Entry changes at Hospital Gate

10 Sep 2007 | Raymond Crowell

Base employees using the hospital gate will notice some slight congestion during peak hours, due to changes in the gate lay-out.

Inbound lane speeds will be significantly reduced by using cement barriers to create a traffic calming feature much like the outbound lanes currently have.

With this minor construction initiative, inbound lane availability will reduce from three to two.

Base patrons will experience some discomfort with the set-up and will take an adjustment period. However, this change in force protection posture is part of Travis' on-going efforts to enhance gate entry procedures.

There will be very little impact in Travis' ability to quickly and professionally ensure all authorized people have access to the base. The base's Anti-Terrorism office does not anticipate any restrictions of the number of access lanes currently in use to process people onto the installation.

All base patrons should keep in mind the threat is still very much real, especially as Travis and the rest of the Air Force reflect back and give remembrance to those lost during the tragic events on Sept. 11, 2001.

In addition, the Anti-Terrorism office ask all of Team Travis to consider the recent thwarted terrorist plots impacting Ft. Dix, N.J., and Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. All of Team Travis need to remain vigilant and contact authorities when suspicious activity is detected. If you suspect any suspicious activity, call for immediate assistance.

If at home, immediately report the situation to local police. If at work on base, immediately report your discovery to the 60th Security Forces Squadron at 424-2800.

Each and every Airman is a sensor, ultimately responsible for the safety and security of Team Travis.
