MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan -- Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, in association with Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Japan (AOPA-J), is honored to host the Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni-Japanese Bilateral Aviation Safety Workshop to be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014.
It is the second bilateral aviation safety forum. The purpose of this workshop is to openly discuss local airspace operating and coordinating procedures among military, commercial, business, and general aviation participants. Maj. Edward Bahret, MCAS Iwakuni Aviation Safety Officer, said, “We want to achieve a greater understanding of mutual operations and awareness in a co-use congested airspace to increase safety for all. We are here to present information to increase the collective understanding of how we, in military aviation, administratively operate, in order to provide better situational awareness necessary for all.”
Approximately 15 private aircraft will be arriving at Iwakuni beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, and will depart at approximately 4:00 p.m. weather depending.
