Capt. Kevin Wheeler, Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 motor transportation company commander, obtained a gold shooting badge for rifle qualification, left, a bronze in pistol qualification, middle, and the Shively Trophy medal during the Far East Division Matches, Dec. 19, 2014. According to Lt. Col. James S. Whiteker, commanding officer of MWSS-171, the squadron took home more than 45 percent of individual medals in the pistol and more than 10 percent in the rifle. The distinguished marksmen medals are worn with the service and dress uniforms in place of regular shooting qualification badges.
