MCAS Iwakuni residents celebrate Japanese Hina Doll Festival

Yusu No Sato teachers help children from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, dress in traditional Japanese kimonos during a hina doll festival in Iwakuni, City, Feb. 27, 2015. Coordinated by the Cultural Adaption Program aboard station, residents celebrated the festival “Hinamatsuri,” with Yusu No Sato by helping display “hina-ningyo,” a seven-tiered stand presenting the special dolls of Hinamatsuri that celebrates young girl’s growth and happiness, dressing in traditional Japanese kimonos, and making Iwakuni sushi.
