MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan - A U.S. military working dog assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni’s Provost Marshal’s Office is rewarded with a ball after detecting a simulated potential threat during a bilateral training event with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the station’s PMO at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, Dec. 21, 2021. Joint training strengthens the U.S.-Japan alliance, creating a more efficient, effective, and unified force. This exercise highlighted the use of military working dogs as an efficient way to detect hazardous material, and allowed for the JMSDF and Marines to share tactics and procedures required to control potential threats.
