Sgt. Maj. John L. Estrada, 15th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, served in his position from June 26, 2003, to April 25, 2007. Estrada was the first Marine of Hispanic descent to be promoted to that rank. His personal awards include a Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with three stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Joint Service Achievement Medal. Estrada is originally from the nation of Trinidad and Tobago.
