MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan -- U.S. service members and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni residents participated in the second annual Pizza-Bingo Night at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, April 27, 2018.
USO Iwakuni hosted the event at Iwakuni Elementary School to commemorate the Month of the Military Child.
“We want to recognize all the sacrifices that the children of our military members make for their country,” said Heather Gilbert De La Rosa, center operations manager for USO Iwakuni. “This night provides a good source of entertainment for the families of our service members.”
Families from the air station played bingo while USO volunteers set up tables of food and passed out pizza. Aaron Gray, center manager for USO Iwakuni, entertained the audience and called out the numbers for bingo.
The USO supplied pizza, chips and drinks while the participants brought in desserts to share. The event also had a stage full of prizes that the players could win. Bingo winners could choose their prize from a selection of movies, toys and stuffed animals.
Navy Seaman Anthony Willis, a hospitalman at Robert M. Casey Medical and Dental Clinic and a volunteer for USO Iwakuni, said that the event was a great opportunity to play some bingo, eat some pizza and spend some time with his family.
