Storyboards highlight AFSO21 projects

21 May 2009 | Wayne Crenshaw

Air Force Materiel Command will present four cases of process improvement at the Department of Defense's upcoming Continuous Process Improvement Symposium.

Continuous Process Improvement is the term used throughout the military for what the Air Force calls AFSO21. AFSO21 promotes finding better and more efficient ways to get things done throughout all levels of Air Force operations.

The story boards will feature improvements made in the 78th Communications Group consolidated help desk at Robins AFB, Ga.; the integrated communications control panel in the 402 Electronics Maintenance Group at Robins AFB, Ga.; the 46th Maintenance Wing self-inspection program at Eglin AFB, Fla.; and the pharmacy dispensing and logistics process, which originated from the 75th Medical Group at Hill AFB, Okla.

Each example of improvement will be featured on a storyboard -- actual boards with photos and graphics that tell the story of efforts to improve how things are done. The boards will be set up as displays along with others throughout the military so that attendees can learn from what others are doing.

Representatives will man each storyboard during the symposium, narrating the stories for those in attendance.

The symposium will be held June 1-3 at the National Conference Center in Lansdown, Va.
