The Department of Defense Education Activities Far-East Division Two All-Boy Soccer Tournament is taking place aboard Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, May 19-22, 2014.

Each team is from a school with 300 or less students, qualifying them as division two.

Usually, the tournament rotates between the Far-East schools and played at each location two years in a row, according to Sandra Lewis, tournament director.

“This is the second year that we’ve had the tournament here,” said Lewis. “We also have it again next year because our station is very good about welcoming the players and letting them stay at the Kintai Inn. We are very good hosts.”

On top of the station’s ability to provide the teams with essentials for the tournament, Lewis also said it gives the players and coaches a chance to travel and make memories in the Asia-Pacific region.

Games are scheduled to take place at Penny Lake Fields aboard station throughout the week. If inclement weather occurs, the games will take place at Kuga Sports Park Iwakuni, Japan.

The championship game is slated for 3 pm, May 22, 2014, at Penny Lake Fields.
