MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan -- Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni is hosting a media opportunity aboard the air station at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
Approved media will have the opportunity to visit the Fleet Readiness Center Western Pacific's (FRCWP) new depot-level maintenance hangar at MCAS Iwakuni and have the opportunity to speak to a subject-matter expert about the importance and value associated with conducting this level of maintenance here at MCAS-I.
FRCWP provides depot-level (most complex) aircraft maintenance for all forward-based U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps forces in Japan. Among other advantages, having the ability to conduct this level of maintenance locally decreases noise and air traffic, while simultaneously increasing safety and operational readiness.
Interested media representatives should sign up by sending an email to MCAS Iwakuni Communication Strategy and Operations (formerly PAO) (iwakuni.pao@usmc.mil) not later than 12:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, with full name, agency, cell phone number, current address and date of birth. A follow-up phone call at 0827-79-4641 is required for confirmation of your base entry registration.
