SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Student Union Café, located next to the Consolidated Education and Training Center, officially opened Aug. 20, and gives students on base a place to relax, study and eat.
Opening day saw a steady stream of patrons who came to check out the Starbucks coffee offerings and the menu, which includes a modest variety of drinks, sandwiches, salads and fruit, yogurt and muffins.
The café is ran by the Scott Club, and manager Graelin Garlington said they'll be tweaking the hours and the menu throughout the next few weeks based on usage and feedback from customers. He said they plan to distribute a survey to ask people for feedback, or people can fill out a form located in the café.
Right now the hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Master Sgt. Mary Belt, 375th Communications Squadron, said she stopped by for lunch and got the turkey bacon wrap. She said the café seems like a nice place for those who are going to school there and gives them a quick dinner option.
