Within the last 24 hours, three (3) individuals at MCAS Iwakuni have tested positive for COVID-19. These individuals tested positive after being identified as a close contact to a positive case. These individuals were not in a restriction of movement status prior to being identified as a close contact. Upon learning that these individuals were close contacts, MCAS Iwakuni immediately tested and placed these individuals into a restriction of movement status.

Upon detection of any positive case, MCAS Iwakuni conducts aggressive contact tracing and will contact, quarantine, and test all close contacts. Testing of close contacts may result in the identification of additional positive cases.

On-base medical authorities continue to work closely with off-base health authorities concerning relevant contact trace findings.

All individuals who receive positive tests results will remain in isolation status until classified as recovered in accordance with Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery guidance.
