Within the last 24 hours, two (2) individuals at MCAS Iwakuni have tested positive for COVID-19.

Two individuals tested positive following restriction of movement exit testing. These individuals were placed in a restriction of movement status due to exposure to a positive case and have remained in restriction of movement since exposure, presenting a low likelihood of further spread of the virus.

Upon detection of any positive case, MCAS Iwakuni conducts aggressive contact tracing and will contact, quarantine, and test all close contacts. Testing of close contacts may result in the identification of additional positive cases.

On-base medical authorities continue to work closely with off-base health authorities concerning relevant contact trace findings.

All individuals who receive positive tests results will remain in isolation status until classified as recovered in accordance with Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery guidance.
