In an abundance of caution taken in order to protect the health and safety of the Air Station and local Iwakuni community, MCAS Iwakuni and JMSDF FAW-31 have mutually decided to cancel Friendship Day 2021.

“Despite our recent successes in the fight against COVID, this decision is in the best interest of protecting our community,” said Col Lance Lewis, commanding officer of MCAS Iwakuni. “With continued adherence to COVID mitigation procedures and progress with vaccinations, I am optimistic that we can welcome our off-base community for future Friendship Days.”
