Within the last 24 hours, one (1) individual at MCAS Iwakuni has tested positive for COVID-19 following restriction of movement exit testing.

This individual arrived to MCAS Iwakuni via a military-coordinated flight and, in accordance with USFJ policy, immediately entered into a restriction of movement period. The likelihood of further spread of the virus remains low due to strict adherence to restriction of movement procedures.

Upon detection of any positive case, MCAS Iwakuni conducts aggressive contact tracing and will contact, quarantine, and test all close contacts. Testing of close contacts may result in the identification of additional positive cases.

On-base medical authorities continue to work closely with off-base health authorities concerning relevant contact trace findings.
All individuals who receive positive tests results will remain in isolation status until classified as recovered in accordance with Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery guidance.
