Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni is honored to invite media representatives to cover a military ceremony scheduled aboard the installation.

In celebration of the 246th Marine Corps birthday, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni will host a birthday pageant Nov. 2 at the Parade Deck in front of Building One. The uniform pageant showcases Marine Corps history and uniforms from the Revolutionary War to the uniforms Marines wear today. Each year, Marines throughout the world hold similar ceremonies to commemorate the Marine Corps’ creation on Nov. 10, 1775.

Interested media should sign up by sending an email to MCAS Iwakuni Communication Strategy and Operations (iwakuni.commstrat@usmc.mil) by Sunday, Oct. 17. Please include your full name, media agency, cell phone number, current address, date of birth, your current age, nationality, I.D. number of either Japanese driver’s license or passport. Follow-up phone call is strongly encouraged for confirmation of the registration. Approved media representatives will be picked up at the City Hall main entrance at the time as designated. 

In accordance with the air station order 6221.1Y, we appreciate your cooperation to respect our policy for the base access. 

• Inoculated Personnel are authorized to participate in all (legal) off-base activities with proof of inoculation, including bars.  

• Uninoculated Personnel are still prohibited from mass gatherings, large groups, activities that prevent social distancing, karaoke/disco clubs, lounges, bars, nightclubs, and adult only establishments.
