MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan -- The 44th JMSDF/MCAS Iwakuni Friendship Day, which is scheduled to be on Saturday, Apr 15, is fast approaching. MCAS Iwakuni Communication Strategy and Operations will be hosting a media opportunity for legitimate and accredited media representatives who wish to visit and cover this bilateral event.
Media interested in Friendship Day pre-show access and media tent privileges should sign up by sending an email to MCAS Iwakuni Communication Strategy and Operations (iwakuni.commstrat@usmc.mil) no later than noon, Wednesday, March 29. Please include your full name, media agency, cell phone number, current address, date of birth, current age, nationality, I.D. number of either Japanese driver’s license or passport, and signed Media Ground Rules sheet. Interested media must submit source documentation providing proof of legitimate media employment and credentials. A follow-up phone call to 0827-79-5551 is required to confirm our receipt of your e-mail submission.
Communication Strategy and Operations will meet pre-registered and approved media representatives at 5:00 a.m. at the Monzen Gate. All media representatives should be prepared to present a valid photo I.D. and media credentials. A signed Media Ground Rules sheet must be submitted for each person attending or wishing to attend, whether arriving at the Monzen Gate at 5:00 a.m. for the pre-airshow media opportunity or later in the day. Only those media representatives who have completed pre-registration, have been approved by MCAS Iwakuni Communication Strategy and Operations, and have submitted the signed Media Ground Rules sheet and all other required information below, by the registration deadline, will receive media credentials and be granted access to the media tent and show-line media maneuver area.
If you only wish to join Friendship Day later in the day, please check in at the media tent, as referenced in the attachment. Doing so will open opportunities to you not otherwise available if you do not check in. Pre-registered and approved media personnel will be issued a media badge, provided the most updated event information and coverage opportunities, and provided access to the show-front media area. For accountability purposes, please de-register at the media tent and turn in your badge prior to departing the air station. MCAS Iwakuni Communication Strategy and Operations reserves the right to deny media-specific access/offerings to non-media personnel.
