The 46th JMSDF/MCAS Iwakuni Friendship Day is fast approaching. MCAS Iwakuni Communication Strategy and Operations (COMMSTRAT) and Japan Maritime Self Defense Force Fleet Air Wing 31 Public Relations Office will be jointly hosting media opportunities for legitimate media representatives who wish to cover Family Day and Friendship Day.

Interested media should sign up by sending an email to MCAS Iwakuni COMMSTRAT (iwakuni.commstrat@usmc.mil) by Sunday, Apr. 13. Please include signed Media Ground Rules sheet, filled registration form, as well as source documentation providing proof of legitimate media employment and credentials per each person. There is no limit on the head count of pre-registration per each media agency who visit the event venues open to public, however we cap up to three persons per outlet who gain exclusive media relations service and privileged access for media representatives. A follow-up phone call to 0827-79-5551 is required to confirm our receipt of your e-mail submission.

The timeline of the media opportunity for Family Day/Air show rehearsal will be notified later for pre-registered and approved media representatives.

For the preliminary access of media representatives on base prior to gates open to public, MCAS Iwakuni COMMSTRAT and JMSDF FAW-31 PRO will jointly escort pre-registered and approved media representatives on base at 4:45 a.m. at the Monzen Gate. All media representatives should be prepared to present a valid photo I.D. and media credentials upon entry.

If you are pre-registered but only wish to join Friendship Day later in the day, please come directly to the media tent to check in and to receive a media badge for authorized media activities on base. Media relations service that provides the most updated event information, coverage opportunities, access to the show-front media area and other restricted spots for professional filming will be provided only to media badge holders. For accountability purposes, please de-register at the media tent and turn in your badge prior to departing the air station. MCAS Iwakuni COMMSTRAT reserves the right to deny media-specific access/offerings to non-media personnel.
