MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan -- Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni takes pleasure to announce the U.S.-Japan Friendship Day has been scheduled for May 5, 2012.
Details will be released as planning and coordination continues. Media advisories with amplifying information are planned for later this month, with at least one press conference planned in March or April.
As part of the larger community of Iwakuni, it has been our pleasure to continue the tradition to open the gates for people in our host nation and share our culture. One of the largest community events in Iwakuni City, MCAS Iwakuni's annual Friendship Day traditionally invites hundreds of thousands of visitors aboard the air station to enjoy an air show, static displays and family activities. The 2011 Friendship Day was suspended in consideration of those affected by the disasters in Northern Japan and due to support of Operation Tomodachi.
Media representatives are requested to hold all queries on Friendship Day 2012 pending subsequent media advisories planned.
