Confusion about airport entrance
13 Dec 2012

Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni wishes to extend congratulations to our friends and neighbors for the resumption of civil aviation here. Today several civilians attempting to reach Kintaikyo Airport tried to enter the main gate at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni. Some indicated they thought access to the civilian airport was through the U.S. military installation and were unaware of the correct civilian access point.

Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni requests the assistance of media outlets and public information services to publicize the correct access point and that access to Kintaikyo Airport is not through the air station. By doing so, media outlets will help passengers arrive at the airport on time and will help ease traffic at the security checkpoint at the air station's main gate.

We appreciate your support and wish continued success of Kintaikyo Airport.
