MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan -- Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, in association with Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Japan (AOPA-J), is honored to host the first-ever Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni-Japanese Bilateral Aviation Safety Workshop to be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.
The purpose of this workshop is to openly discuss local airspace operating and coordinating procedures among military, commercial, business, and general aviation participants. At the workshop, U.S. experts, with years of collective experience operating within our airspace, will provide presentations. The event encourages personal interaction between US and Japanese participants, in order to promote a better understanding of specifics, to promote an exchange of ideas and to address concerns about the spectrum of aircraft operations in the Iwakuni area.
The ultimate goal is to promote a safer flying environment though a more comprehensive understanding of the overall operating airspace.
Landing, taxiing and parking of aircraft, followed by the first 10 to 15 minutes of the actual workshop are open for media coverage. Interested media are asked to contact us at 0827-79-5551 by not later than 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, in order to reserve their space for the visit.
