VMFA(AW)-122 arrives at MCAS Iwakuni
14 Mar 2014

Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA/AW) 122 arrived here March 10 from Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, S.C., as part of the Unit Deployment Program. Lt. Col. Douglas Dewolfe commands the "Werewolves," which consist of approximately 170 Marines and approximately 10 F/A-18 Hornet aircraft. The Werewolves replace Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232, the Red Devils, which returned to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif.

CORRECTION:  The air station release #003-14 (dated 12 Feb 14) incorrectly stated that VMFA-224, the Bengals, replaced VMFA-232 the Red Devils. VMFA-224 actually replaced VMFA-112, the Cowboys, which returned to Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Ft. Worth, Texas.
