MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan -- Reinforcing our enduring and strong bilateral relationship with Japan, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni has authorized additional commercial flights to operate from the MCAS Iwakuni military runway, effective Sunday, Apr. 19.
The recent aircraft emergency at Hiroshima airport prompted this temporary arrangement. Passengers flying through Iwakuni Kintaikyo Airport should note that all civil aviation operations are on a strict not-to-interfere basis with military aviation operations at MCAS Iwakuni, and are thus subject to delay or suspension due to military operational requirements.
In that safety is paramount, the air station’s Air Traffic Control center will continue their longstanding reputation of minimizing delays and ensuring the safe operation of all inbound and outbound aircraft.
Please direct any questions regarding these additional commercial flights to aircraft carrier in question.
