Sgt. Maj. Jody G. Armentrout

Jody G. Armentrout was born on 8 December 1974, in Abilene, Texas. He reported to Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California, 25 November 1999 and graduated 23 February 2000. Private First Class Armentrout then reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California. Private First Class (PFC) Armentrout then attended primary school for Aviation Structural Mechanic (Airframes Structures) Common Core in Pensacola, Florida. PFC Armentrout then reported to Virginia for Advanced Composite Material Repair School and graduated 30 June 2000.

Upon completion of training, Lance Corporal Armentrout received orders and reported to 3rd Marine Air Wing (MAW), Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS-16) Miramar, California on 14 July 2000. Lance Corporal Armentrout was promoted to Corporal, 1 July 2001. In April of 2002, Corporal Armentrout reported to Non-Destructive Inspection Technician Course at Common Core in Pensacola, Florida after graduating received orders to Marine Aviation
Logistics Squadron 12 (MALS-12), Marine Aircraft Group 12 (MAG-12), 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (1st MAW), III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Forces Pacific.

In August of 2003, Corporal Armentrout was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Armentrout then was assigned and deployed to Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii in support of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron-122 (VMFA-122) and to Darwin, Australia in support of VMFA(AW)-224 as Detachment Non-Destructive inspector and Noncommissioned Officer in Charge. Sergeant Armentrout then received orders to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS), Beaufort, South Carolina, Search and Rescue Unit as the Non-Destructive Inspection Technician and Airframes Technician Sergeant Armentrout then received orders to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 (MALS-31) in Beaufort South Carolina where he deployed with VMFA-332 to Iraq as the Non-Destructive Inspection Technician from July 2005 to July of 2006. Sergeant Armentrout was promoted to Staff Sergeant in March of 2007. In July of 2007, Staff Sergeant Armentrout was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 464 to deploy to the Horn of Africa from 05 August 2007 to June 2008.

Staff Sergeant Armentrout then reported to the Marine Combat Instructors Course in July of 2008 was then assigned to Fox Company, Marine Combat Training Battalion, and School of Infantry-East as a Combat Instructor. Staff Sergeant Armentrout was promoted on 2 January 2010 and reported to the Combat Instructor School where he served as the chief Instructor. In May 2012, Gunnery Sergeant Armentrout reported to Marine Headquarters Squadron Cherry Point North Carolina where he served on the Aviation Logistics Maintenance Assist Team as an Inspector for all of 2MAW.

Gunnery Sergeant Armentrout received orders in April of 2013 and was frocked to First Sergeant and reported to 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines and deployed to Okinawa/Korea from December 2013 to June 2014 where he served as the Fox Company First Sergeant. In January of 2015, First Sergeant Armentrout reported to Marine Corps Base Hawaii to serve as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant. In February of 2016, First Sergeant Armentrout checked in to Marine Corps Engineer School where he is served as the Combat Engineer Instruction Company First Sergeant. First Sergeant Armentrout was selected to the rank of Sergeant Major in November 2017 and reported to 3d Battalion, 6th Marines where he served as Battalion Sergeant Major until he received orders to 2d Combat Engineer Battalion in September 2019 where he served as the Battalion Sergeant Major until March of 2021. Sergeant Major Armentrout served as the Sergeant Major of Marine Aviation Training Support Group 22, Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas from April of 2021 to September 2023.Sergeant Major Armentrout currently serves as the Marine Corps Air station Iwakuni, Japan Base Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Armentrout personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal fourth award, Marine Corps Achievement Medal seventh award and Volunteer Service Medal second award.
