M.C. Perry High School JROTC hosts Memorial Day ceremony - JROTC color guard cadets present colors at M.C. Perry High School during a Memorial Day ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, May 20, 2019. The ceremony was coordinated by the school’s JROTC program in order to honor the memories of fallen service members. U.S. Marines from Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 242 and Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron (VMGR) 152 attended the ceremony to commemorate the memories of their fellow Marines on the memorial wall. History in the making: “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band visits Japan for first time - "The President’s Own” United States Marine Band performs at the Yamaguchi Prefectural Culture Hall Sinfonia Iwakuni in Iwakuni City, Japan, May 19, 2019. Nearly 1,200 Japanese locals and Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni residents attended the concert. The centuries-old musical group rarely travels outside of the United States and has never before visited Japan. Deescalating future escalator incidents from escalating into heartbreaking tragedies - Firefighters with Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni Fire Department conduct escalator rescue drills at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, April 9, 2019. The firefighters used an escalator in the old Marine Corps exchange because the building is slated for demolition later this year. This was a unique training experience for the firefighters because many had never conducted escalator rescue drills mostly due to high repair costs that come with the training. Seabees Can Do: NMCB-3 builds up MCAS Iwakuni - U.S. Navy Seabees with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 3, Detachment Iwakuni build a trash enclosure at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, March 19, 2019. NMCB-3 Detachment Iwakuni is deployed from their base in Port Hueneme California. The Seabees deployed to Iwakuni in order to build 27 garbage enclosure structures that protect solid waste containers from wind and wildlife while maintaining a neat appearance to garbage collection areas.
