The 43rd annual JMSDF/MCAS Iwakuni Friendship Day, which is scheduled to be on Sunday, May 5, is getting close. This release provides updated information before the open house celebration.

PACAF C-17 GLOBEMASTER III DEMONSTRATION
*New* We are excited to announce that the PACAF C-17 Globemaster III Demonstration Team will be making the flight from their home base at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii to join us for a very rare Friendship Day performance. Flying the 53-meter long C-17 with a 51.75-meter wingspan, the PACAF C-17 Demonstration Team exists to showcase the capabilities of the most flexible cargo aircraft in the U.S. military.

MV-22 LEVEL III DEMONSTRATION
JMSDF/MCAS Iwakuni Friendship Day air show will amaze audience members with an air show demonstration that showcases the maneuverability of the MV-22 Osprey. The level III demonstration is one of the most sought-after aerial demonstrations offered by the U.S. military. Demonstrations are performed by the same aircraft and Marines who train and deploy in support of real-world contingencies. For this reason, Headquarters Marine Corps selects only a handful of events to receive the coveted demonstration.

GATE HOURS FOR TOUR BUSES
This is the latest update of the gate hours for commercial tour buses. The C-Gate will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for large-size tour buses only. After 1:00 p.m., all inbound tour bus traffic at the C-Gate will cease and the C-Gate will be utilized for outbound tour bus traffic only.

0300 - Gate to pre-staging area opened
0600 - C-gate opened, busses come onto base
0700 - People allowed to exit bus and enter the air show
