 Background Local Records Check

A background check is a law enforcement local records check used to investigate personnel to ensure proper vetting for employment, extensions, security clearance, weapons registration etc.

A copy of the units authorization to request and pick up local records checks will be on file at the PMO Administration section and personnel authorized by the unit Commanding Officer/Officer-in-Charge or Director will be allowed to request or pick up local records checks result.

 FOIA and Privacy Act

The Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. § 552) allows members of the public to obtain a wide range of information from agencies of the federal government. In the Department of the Navy, FOIA is addressed in Secretary of the Navy Instruction 5720.42F, "Department of the Navy Freedom of Information Act Program" (SECNAVINST 5720.42F).

FOIA or Privacy Act request for PMO Iwakuni are submitted through the Station Judge Advocate (SJA) Office who will send the request to PMO. Once OSJA recieves the information they will contact the requestor and review with member.

 Guest Pass Request (Family & Friends)

Personal Visitor (families and friends) of SOFA personnel, Immediate family members of JMSDF active duty members and MLC/IHA (who works at the MCAS Iwakuni more than 2 years)
** Please ask to Pass & Reg if the visitor is from Designated Third Country

Submit one of the following 3 business days prior to arrival

One day​
Visitation is less than 24 hours.                           

Extended Stay
Visitation is more than 24 hours. (up to 30days/Lodging @TFL, Kintai Inn or 90days/Lodging @Housing) 
For extended stay on Base, endorsement from Lodging facilities (Housing/TLF/Kintai Inn) is required.

Except US/Japan National ---> Copy of the photo page of unexpired passport
Guest(s) under the age of 18 who are not traveling with their parent(s) must provide a"Permission Statement" signed by their parents

ID Requirement (upon base entry day at the gate)
Any of the following ID/documentation (with approved visitation request)

  • Passport

  • Driver’s License

  • My Number Card (with photo)

  • Health Insurance Card + Certificate of Residence with domicile of origin (or family register)

  • Basic Resident Card (Juki Card) + Certificate of Residence with domicile of origin

  • Alien Registration Card

Sponsors are required to adhere to the MCAS Iwakuni COVD-19 Order (MCASO 6220.1Series).  

This Order and the designated red zones may be updated without prior notice.

We might not be able to even accept any Visitor Pass Request(s) based on this COVID order.  

Also, even though your request/pass has been approved by PMO,  your guest(s) may be denied access depending on the area they are originally/travelled from.
