MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan -- The Harlem Globetrotters put on a show against the Washington Generals, with the help of Navy Entertainment and Armed Forces Entertainment, aboard Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Dec. 7, 2014.
The Harlem Globetrotters is an exhibition basketball team that combines athleticism, theater and comedy.
“My parents were in the military,” said Crash Beaty, a player with the Globetrotters. “I was a military child, so to come over here and show support for these troops means a lot to me.”
The Globetrotters interacted with the crowd throughout the night, playing musical chairs, singing, dancing and more.
After their overtime win against the Generals, the Globetrotters invited participants to an autograph session.
This is the Globetrotters’ 13th overseas tour to U.S. Military installations in 11 years.
The team continues to visit military installations, currently totaling approximately 40 U.S. bases and ships in 20 countries.
This year’s tour started in Guam and is continuing throughout Japan.
“Our military tours are one of the most rewarding experiences for any Harlem Globetrotter,” said Cheese Chisholm, a player for the Globetrotters. “The troops are always so appreciative when we come, but we are extremely grateful as well, because we consider it an honor to entertain these brave men and women that put their lives on the line every day to protect our freedom.”
